Privacy Policy

This policy describes the visitor information associated with Morris County Criminal History, why it is used, and the limited situations in which another service may receive it. By continuing to browse or use a search tool, you accept these practices.

Information You Submit

Search Queries

A name or place entered in a search box is sent to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its result. We do not keep a separate log of those search terms on our system.

Messages and Contact Submissions

An email or other direct message may be retained long enough to answer and maintain the related correspondence. It is kept within the operating team unless disclosure is required by law.

Automatically Collected Data

Routine server and analytics records may capture these technical details when a page loads:

  • Page-view timestamps
  • The device's IP address
  • Browser name and version
  • Operating system and device category
  • Viewed pages and approximate visit length
  • A referring page or site, when supplied

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files that support traffic measurement and show broad patterns, such as popular pages or common exit points. Analytics providers aggregate that activity. A browser can reject cookies, although blocking them may change how some site functions behave.

How Data Is Used

  • Route a query to the selected search partner
  • Maintain performance and availability
  • Identify and repair technical faults
  • Measure which content visitors use
  • Support advertising that may reflect visitor interests

No Criminal-Record Database

Morris County Criminal History does not host, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It describes access through the Morris County Sheriff, New Jersey Courts, the New Jersey State Police State Bureau of Identification, and the New Jersey Sex Offender Internet Registry. Visitor information is not assembled into a third-party criminal profile or consumer report. This site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy policies, not this policy, govern data entered in those tools. Each provider controls its own retention and disclosure practices, so review those terms before running a query.

Links to Other Websites

Links lead to Morris County offices, New Jersey Courts, state agencies, legal resources, and outside search services. Once a visitor follows one, the destination's privacy rules control that visit. Review them before providing personal information.

Some advertising providers may use their own systems to recognize activity across websites for interest-based advertising.

Limited Data Disclosure

Personal data is not sold. Depending on the visitor's actions and applicable law, information may reach:

  • The search provider selected by the visitor
  • Traffic and performance analytics vendors
  • Advertising networks serving site placements
  • A government body responding to valid legal process

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable technical and operational safeguards protect collected information. No internet service can promise perfect security, however, and this policy does not guarantee that a breach can never occur.

Users Under 18

The service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. A known minor's information will be removed when a valid deletion request identifies it.

Your Data Rights

Rights may differ based on residence and applicable law. New Jersey's Open Public Records Act, N.J.S.A. 47:1A-1 et seq., controls access to identifiable government records, while N.J.S.A. 53:1-20.5 to -20.9 controls specified dissemination of state criminal-history information. Those laws do not turn this private site into a government custodian. Subject to the law that applies, a visitor may:

  • Request access to personal data held about that visitor
  • Ask that inaccurate personal data be corrected
  • Seek deletion where the law permits it
  • Opt out of eligible processing activities

Updates to This Policy

Revisions will appear on this page and carry a new effective date. Continued use after a revision means the current policy applies.
